- Start Outlook 2003 (these instructions are not for Outlook Express)
- Click the “Tools” menu
- Click “Email Accounts”
- (Leave the selection on “View”)
- Click the “Next” button to display the list of email accounts

Some accounts in this screen will probably be your old web hosting accounts or personal email accounts. The best idea is to make a note of what the accounts are called, and just leave them alone until you’re certain you are receiving email on your new account through DVI Web Works.
- Click the “Add” button
- Select the “POP3” server type and click “Next”
- Fill out this screen substituting your login name for “test” and your domain name for “yourdomain.com”
- One last thing: click “More Settings” and click the “Outgoing Servers” tab
- Check “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” (see below):
Just click “OK” and the “Next” button on the original screen…this takes you back to the start.
If more than one employee will be checking the same email account (for example "info@yourdomain.com" might be checked by multiple employees fielding customer inquiries) you may also want to click on the "Advanced" tab and check "Leave a copy of messages on the server". This will insure that any messages that get to your copy of Outlook will also make it to the other machines that check the same account. (NOTE: the default behavior of Outlook is to erase the messages on the server once they're accessed).
IMPORTANT: you need to DELETE messages off the server on a regular basis...you do not have unlimited email storage space on the email server (though you may on your local machine...it's your decision!) In order to insure that the email server is cleared regularly, click the "Advanced" tab and in the "Delivery" section, make sure to have the following settings (you can select how many days you want to leave emails on there...a little over a week is how I have it set here):
OKAY, NOW TEST IT:
At this point you should try sending yourself some email from another account (your personal email account, Yahoo, Hotmail, whatever). Then in a minute or two, click “Send/Receive” in Outlook and see if you got it.
The most common cause of NOT getting the email or having a problem in Outlook is that something was entered incorrectly on one of the email screens. Go back in and double-check that all your entries use your domain name. In other words, your screen should NOT contain the words “yourdomain.com”, but rather your ACTUAL domain.
You also need to make sure that your username includes your domain (username@yourdomain.com).
